*Woodwinds & Brass Non Majors (New Members Only):  Auditions for all non-music majors interested in becoming a member of the “Pride of the Southland” Marching band, including any band scholarships (stipends), will need to submit a brief audition video prior to Monday, March 17.  On your video, please submit the following:

1)  Introduction:  Take a moment to give us your:

  • Name
  • Hometown
  • High School
  • Music selections you will be playing
  • What is your most memorable band experience thus far
  • Why do you want to be a member of the Pride?

2)  Chromatic Scale:  2 octave ascending/descending at an octave of your choice.  Please articulate each note (do not slur).

3)  One technical excerpt AND one lyrical excerpt.  These can be 2-3 minutes in length each.  They can be selections from a prepared solo, a method book, or audition music from other honor band auditions (ex: Tennessee All-East Excerpts)

Using your computer, tablet, phone, or video camera, record your introduction and playing of the required music.  We recommend you do not face the camera directly as this can distort the sound.  The sound is the most important part of the video.  Be sure to have a clear view of your embouchure, hands, and full instrument.  We ask that you combine your introduction, scale, and excerpts into one video.  However, the video can be a combination of your best recording (it does not have to be all in one take).  When you upload your video onto YouTube, be sure to list it as “unlisted” (not “public” or “private”).  Please include your first and last name in the video description.

4)  Once you have recorded your video, fill out the following form and attach the link HERE.

Review of audition videos will begin shortly after the deadline.  Notification of acceptance will begin on April 1.  Audition videos will be accepted after the deadline as space permits.
