Auditions for the 2023-2024 Men’s and Lady Vol’s Basketball Pep Bands are now up and running. Any current UTK student can audition (Instrumentation includes Drum Set & Electric Bass players for these groups)!
Reminder: Anyone on a band stipend MUST audition. Auditions will occur on Tuesday, October 17 at 8:00 PM in the band room of the Natalie Haslam Music Center. Any questions, please see Dr. Stewart or Dr. Lyon. Good Luck!
Audition excerpts are taken from the pep band tune “Chameleon”. Music can be picked up from the band office.
*If you do not have a copy of the music, please contact the band office for a copy at 865-974-5031 or visit us in the Natalie Haslam Music Center, Room 227.
*Electric Bass: We will provide an amp/cord, just bring your bass to the audition. You will play the excerpts from the Sousaphone music (see above if you do not have music).
Drum Set & Bass Drum: Demonstrate the following drumset styles: rock, funk, big band swing, and a groove in 3/4. Play the following school songs: Rocky Top, Fight Vols Fight into Down the Field, and Vol Spell Out. If you need access to a drumset practice room, please find a percussion studio member to unlock a room for you or contact Eli below.
